Project Overview

Immersive motion portrait created with David Carson to animate how he thinks. I sat with David to map his process, fluid, instinctive, always redirecting, then recorded his narration and filmed a 360° turntable portrait. That backbone became a water-driven collage where voice, RayGun–era fragments, and kinetic type move as one stream of thought.

Currents refract across the portrait while type drifts, breaks, and reforms to the audio. The face stays anchored so thinking remains the subject, not the effect. Delivered as a loopable hero film with social cutdowns and key art. Animation By Mark Patch.

“I wonder where the design is going as I am working on it. I want to use this piece that I like and sometimes where I am going isn’t always the best place or, something happens in the process that is really special. And maybe, even better than where I thought I was headed so... I need to be open to things that happen along the way. Unexpected stuff that sometimes is better than where I think I was headed... and a lot of times you won’t know that before you see it” David Carson
